In the Way

It seems the winds
of this universe
could not plot more
to make it worse
while all our plans and dreams
even our enemies' hidden schemes
were blocked on each and every day
because now
Life just got in the way

Not much joy here
days filled with sadness
sprinkled here with
silent madness
here in my self-exile
I know I have to stay a while
so sun may shine again some day
but again
Life just gets in the way

The here and now
opposed to time past
I go forward
so this can't last
we rarely ever get to choose
the life we want - we sometimes lose
when light is dark and clouds are grey
command it
Life get out of the way

  2. If only we could issue that command--"Life, get out of the way!"--and have it obeyed!

  3. Well put! And life has had an aggravating way of getting in the way this past year. We must try the command!

    1. The scars of life leave us with the reminders of the trials and tribulations that we survived.
But sometimes I'd rather skip that. Thanks for stopping by

    1. Plans that were blocked/delayed plus the added bonus of the unexpected.
I got a feeling these dark times will get better - at least I hope so.
I appreciate your thoughts, Marja. Thank you

  5. Sometimes one needs to pause awhile and sit with the sadness, confusion or whatever – but eventually that decision to go forward is crucial. Even though Life doesn't get out of the way, one can perhaps barge – or sidle – through.

    1. These past few months, it's more like delaying our progress. We're just delayed with a few bumps and bruises.
I thank you for your kind words, Rosemary.

  6. If only there were magic words to dispel the heaviness hanging from our souls like concrete blocks. And we're expected to keep swimming anyway. Here's hoping for those blocks to fall away and for the chance to take a real, healing breath.

  8. Thank you, Helen.
I'm looking forward to throwing off the chains and flying a little, so long as I don't get too close to the sun, it will all work out.

  9. I hope things do improve but the virus is no doubt reinventing itself so any drugs planned may be outwitted by the cunning virus!

The events of the end of last year was in spite the virus.
Thanks for your well wishes and I hope this year makes up for it all

  11. I was just talking with a friend about how much we have let the current state of affairs dictate all our behaviors, even behaviors that don't necessarily need to be affected. It is just so hard to get out of life's way. But, I think, we (and by "we" I mean "me", lol) must make an effort. I'm going to try to walk outside everyday again. Maybe that will make things a bit better for me, bring me a bit closer to better days...

It is good to read you, Joel.
